Extra-Curricular opportunities at Haslam Park

Our Extra-Curricular Clubs

Please see below for details of a selection of clubs currently available at Haslam Park. This list will be added to as we follow children's interests and as opportunities arise.

We encourage parents and carers to speak to us if their child would like to participate but faces a barrier to attending. We will work together to explore suitable opportunities.

Together we explore, learn and grow.

Every Child. Every Opportunity. Every Talent.

At Haslam Park Primary School, we believe that every child deserves opportunities to discover new interests, develop talents, build confidence and experience success beyond the classroom.

Our extra-curricular clubs form an important part of our wider personal development offer. Throughout the school year, we provide a varied programme of inclusive activities that encourage children to explore their interests, develop friendships, learn new skills and broaden their experiences.

Our ambition is not simply to offer a wide range of clubs, but to ensure that the children who would benefit most from these opportunities are able to access them.

Inclusion and Equity at the Heart of Our Offer

We recognise that access to extra-curricular activities is not always equal.

Children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), disadvantaged pupils and those facing additional barriers may need more targeted support or different opportunities to participate.

At Haslam Park, we actively prioritise these children when promoting and planning our enrichment offer.

We:

  • Prioritise access for children with SEND and disadvantaged pupils, ensuring that they are actively encouraged and supported to take part.

  • Track and monitor attendance at clubs, including participation by children with SEND and disadvantaged pupils, so that we can identify gaps and respond to them.

  • Identify barriers to participation, including family commitments, transport, caring responsibilities, religious observance and after-school worship.

  • Offer alternative opportunities wherever possible for children who cannot attend after-school sessions, including activities at other times during the school day.

  • Make reasonable adjustments to activities, resources and support so that children with additional needs can participate meaningfully.

  • Listen to pupil and parent voice to help us understand children's interests and shape future opportunities.

We understand that some children cannot attend clubs after school for reasons entirely outside their control. For example, children who attend religious education or worship after school should not be disadvantaged in their access to enrichment.

Where these circumstances arise, we work with children and families to identify suitable alternative opportunities.

Inclusion is not simply offering every child the same opportunity. It is recognising and removing the barriers that prevent children from taking part.

Monitoring Participation and Making a Difference

We do not measure the success of our clubs programme solely by the number of activities offered.

We consider who is attending, who may be missing out and what difference participation makes.

By reviewing attendance and participation information, we can identify underrepresented groups, encourage individual children to take part and adapt our offer where needed.

We want children to gain more than a new skill. Through our clubs, we aim to develop confidence, independence, resilience, teamwork, communication, creativity and a sense of belonging.

Our commitment is simple:

No child should miss out on opportunities to explore their interests and develop their talents because of disadvantage, additional needs or circumstances beyond their control.
